It’s thought this cocktail dates back to the dawn of mass air travel and package holidays in the early 1950s in the USA, when the Bahamas was a popular holiday destination, being only about 125 miles from the Florida coast.
60ml (2 fl oz) Dark rum,
60ml (2 fl oz) light rum, such as Bacardi Superior
60ml (2 fl oz) coconut liqueur, we used Malibu
15ml (1/2 fl oz) grenadine syrup
30ml (1 fl oz) orange juice
30ml (1 fl oz) pineapple juice
Maraschino cherry or orange slice
Mix all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
Strain into a tall glass over ice and add your choice of garnish, a cherry or an orange slice.
