Caribbean Cocktails: The Dark ‘n’ Stormy

The original Dark ‘n’ Stormy cocktail, inspired by the Caribbean, was made with Gosling’s dark rum and Barritt’s Ginger Beer. The Gosling Brothers company claims that the rum drink was invented in Bermuda just after First World War One.

Combine dark rum, ginger beer and lime juice to make a classic dark & stormy with a taste of the Caribbean.

Vital Ingredients

60ml (2 oz.) dark rum
45ml (3 oz.) fiery Jamaican ginger beer
15ml (1/2 oz.) lime juice (optional)


Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Add dark rum.
Pour in ginger beer and lime juice.
Stir with a long spoon.
Garnish with a lime wedge. Cheers.

Out of the 50 American states, two states favored the Dark ‘n’ Stormy above all other cocktails, and the Caribbean cocktail made with ginger beer and rum was found to be the most popular with stay at home drinkers in Montana and Rhode Island during the Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter months of the pandemic.
